We have been really busy over the last few months. Here’s the first of the projects we’ve done…
Waltham Forest Music Service project
We had great fun working with WFMS last summer and we were delighted to be asked to work with them again this year.
We took part in the enormous finale performance of the Waltham Forest Music Festival at Walthamstow Assembly Hall. 600 young singers and instrumentalists took part in the concert and the orchestra included over a hundred children playing flutes, clarinets, recorders, cellos, and guitars, all giving their first ever public performances alongside ELMG musicians.
We were delighted to be working alongside Rebecca Baxter, who led the huge Primary Choir of children from across the borough in the premiere of Meadow Songs by Kate Stillitz.
This performance was the culmination of a term-long project. We started by giving performances in assemblies at St Mary’s, St Patrick’s, Yardley, and Willowbrook Primary Schools in the borough. We then made brand new arrangements of We Will Rock You, William Tell Overture, What A Wonderful World, and Shotgun for the students to learn during the course of the term, before everyone joined together at the end of June for the big rehearsal and performance.
It was inspirational to see so many young people giving their debut performances. If you live in Waltham Forest and would like to know how you or your children can get involved with learning music then you can find all the information on the WFMS webpage.
