The first few months of 2016 have been action-packed, with no let up following our performance last November of William Walton's Façade and the premiere of Edward Nesbit's Strange Joy.
January saw East London Music Group artists Joseph Hardy, Robert Hazle, Aaron Burrows, Sarah Campbell, Gareth Humphreys, and Sophie Lockett working in three Tower Hamlets primary schools under the leadership of Jo Gibson.
Year four and five children from John Scurr Primay, Chisenhale Primary, and Malmesbury Primary worked over three weeks to compose new music and drama pieces based on Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale. These new pieces were incorporated into a large scale performance of Stravinsky's Work on 9th February at Queen Mary University of London, with an audience of schoolchildren and parents numbering more than 200.
This was ELMG's first foray into educational work and a fantastic time was had by all involved, we are looking forward to another schools' performing arts project in Summer 2017. Click here for QMUL's write up.
We've also been hard at work organising our activities for summer 2016, which will see a revival of our February 2015 production of The Soldier's Tale at the Deal Festival of the Arts and the Bushey Festival. More information to follow...
